The most important of the Chinese holidays is the Chinese New Year, also known as the Lunar New Year or the Spring Festival. The celebrations that traditionally last for 16 days will be starting from January 31st until February 15th, 2022.
2022 will be the year of the Tiger as we transition from the year of the Ox. According to the Chinese zodiac, the Tiger stands for willpower, courage, and personal strength, and people born in the year of the Tiger are thought to be competitive and brave.
The holiday has big impact on global supply chains originating in China. As usual, we expect to see some difficulties and low efficiency on local service due to shortage of labor, trucking, warehouse, stevedores, etc.
As vendors and suppliers will stop their service gradually before the holidays, the rush put increased stress on the supply chain, causing congestions and capacity issues. In addition, we see difficulties due to the current market situation and the COVID-19 impact.
Thus, we recommend making all necessary preparations ahead of time. Please be aware to plan and book your shipments in advance to avoid delays and increased freight costs.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact your local Martin Bencher representative or our branch Managers in Shanghai, Qingdao, or Guangzhou.
